American Tsunami
This painting is titled American Tsunami, referring to the Wall Street and banking crisis of 2008, which flooded over us all and led us into the housing crisis. This man made “storm” destroyed the homes and lives of many, and it’s effects are still being felt. There was no preventing what nature created, but our American version was preventable, adding to the sadness and disgrace of it. It was the recent Japanese tsunami that has stuck in my mind and prompted doing this work in this way, and I created this painting with both tsunami in mind.
